Antique Grand Italian Baroque Marble Top Console ~ Sofa Table is a remarkable feat of sculpture, hand-carved from exquisite blonde walnut and left in the natural coloration that has attained a lovely patina.  Six legs, five of which are haunch-shaped with one single turned leg in the center of the back side, provide a self-supporting platform that does not require mounting to the wall for stability.  Recessed panels on the facade, even on the plinth blocks, create a three dimensional effect, mirrored by the contour of the luxuriously veined marble top.  An elaborate expression of the Baroque style has been pierce-carved on the apron which appears in all its glory on each side and across the entire front.  Even the gracefully contoured stretchers below are centered on each side with rosette finials.  Four drawers fitted with cast bronze pendant pulls open to reveal excellent storage, with three of the drawers fitted for silver service.
