19th Century French Louis XVI Painted Marble Top Demilune Console will make a beautiful accent for an entryway, hall or staircase! Resplendent with stunning architecture and embellishment that is the essence of the classical revival, it features bas relief of scrolled vines, florals and foliage across the crescent moon-shaped apron framed with beaded molding. Rectangular acanthus rosettes interrupt the apron adornment directly above the elegantly scrolled cabriole legs below, which are adorned with round rosettes, ascending and descending acanthus plumes, and spiral ribbon. The curved stretcher connects them closer to the floor, and is fitted with a carved urn bursting with flowers. Scrolled feet with extended foliate tips complete the structure. A luxuriously veined marble top has been cut in the demilune shape then cove beveled to provide a carefree and elegant surface, while gold highlighting adds opulence to the carved detail on the background of the patinaed painted finish.
