Antique Three-Piece Blue & White Garniture from Delfts is a charming set that includes a lidded urn and two matching vases, each adorned in luxurious cobalt blue with a distinctive transferware pattern that divides the display into four distinct panels, with effervescent floral and foliate displays the subject of the design completely encircling each piece, even the lid! Such three piece sets were intended to provide symmetry to mantels, buffets and consoles, adding a splash of color even when they were not filled with freshly picked flowers. The pattern is a play on the well-renowned region entitled Delfia, with an intriguing insignia on the bottoms of each piece. The history of fine porcelains produced in the Delfts region goes back centuries, at least the middle of the 17th century and even earlier.
