19th Century English Blue & White Transferware Pitcher ~ Clarendon pattern by S&P is a splendid example of one of hundreds of cottage industries that have come and gone on the English islands and continent of Europe over the past several centuries. The very decorative pattern was applied with a pre-printed decal prior to glazing and final firing, a process specially designed for the ceramics industry but used in a similar fashion for other manufactured goods. The intricate nature-inspired patterns on this example remain in remarkable condition, with only a bit of wear on the inside pouring lip. Great for permanent or fresh flowers and greenery!
