Antique French Wrought Iron Chandelier is a superlative example of the master metalsmith's art! Forged from red hot iron from top to bottom, the fixture includes its original canopy. (It will require minor work to add chain) Starting just under the canopy, we see foliage depicting vines and leaves suggestive of laurels. Solid iron rods with integral hoods and twists connect to the main hoop below, with tendril motifs halfway. The main hoop is a columnar form with pierced quatrefoils all around, and finely scrolled arms mounted to the hoops with alternating fleur de lys flourishes highlighted in gold. Floral bobeches and cage-like candlesleeve holders remind us of the old torches hanging on the walls of castles. Newly and professionally electrified to US Standards, it features realistic heat-resistant candlesleeve covers as pictured, all included in the price!
Circa early 1900s
