Antique French Louis XVI Bronze Chandelier is a spectacular design, inspired by ancient Greek and Roman architecture! The original canopy survives, cast to depict a laurel rosette, which leads the eye down to the top of the fixture which has been cast to depict a bow of ribbon. Cascading down from the bow are cast chain segments connected to each upturned arm below, which are fitted with matching laurel bobeches and candlestick holders. Exquisite foliate and acanthus leaf flourishes are abundant surrounding the central shaft, and below where the arms are affixed appear beautiful angel's faces, flanked by floral garlands and affixed to the central shaft cast to depict a carquois de fleche, symbol of the power of the French monarchy for centuries! Newly electrified with standard wiring.
Circa early 1900s
Fixture measures 36H x 20 in diameter; 44H including chain & canopy
