Pair 19th Century French Giltwood Louis XVI Salon Chairs with Cane Seats will make the perfect accent chairs for your more formal accommodations.  Hand-crafted to a high degree of detail and artisanry, each features a rectilinear architecture common to the neoclassical style, but with a centered, arched seatback crown and a seat shaped like a lyre to add visual interest.  The framework on the seat back and seat is embellished with hand-carved molding in egg & dart next to beading motifs.  The seat back also sports a splendid pierce-carved back splat depicting intertwined foliage.  The seat is caned for lightweight comfort, and the egg & dart bordering is interrupted by four plinth blocks with rosettes and fluting that serve to provide junctures for the tapered, fluted and wheat-reeded legs, tipped with urn-shaped feet.  The gilded finish adds the perfect visual touch to the pair.
Circa 1890s
Each measures 36H x 15W x 18D; seat 17H
