Antique French Louis XVI Painted Vanity Chair with Cane is an artful example of French craftsmanship at its finest!  The round stool itself is caned for lightweight comfort, and features meticulous beaded and egg & dart trim all around, interrupted by plinths with rosettes above each of four tapered and fluted legs.  The real mastery of the art appears on the gallery armrest railing, however, with acanthus plumes on each scrolled armrest, at the center in a lyre shape, and on the top of the wraparound gallery fitted with turned spindles and bordered with more egg & dart trim.  Original painted finish has achieved a lovely patina over the decades!
