19th Century French Walnut Henri II Bookcase ~ Display Armoire is a splendid example of one of the classic French styles revived during the reign of the country's last monarch, Napoleon III. Rendered from highly prized blonde walnut, it features a lighter and more airy effect with the coloration of the sumptuous wood, accentuated with ebonized molding and accents, plus decorative panels of burl wood for a truly special effect. The architecture is classically inspired, and features a boldly carved crown with scrolls and a spire finial at the center, flanked by orb finials on each corner. The intricately molded bonnet below includes framed panels on the sides with raised panel accents across the front. The bonnet overlooks the glazed casework below, with original beveled glass full length on each side, and fitted into the door which sports a brass pull and guard. The door opens to reveal three glass shelves and a floor, perfect for display, with plenty of ambient light affording a wonderful view of your prized possessions. Below the display space is a full width drawer, accented with diagonal molding and a brass bale pull with guard. The corners feature half-columns fluted and turned in an urn form over a plinth block above a fluted base, with fine molding and bun feet completing the look.
