Sale19th Century French Napoleon III Period Mahogany Bookcase ~ Vitrine is a marvel of fine artisanry, with elegantly arched crown festooned with hand-carved floral and foliates cascading down to the beautifully sculpted finials on the corner posts. Mitered corners are adorned with corbels, a motif repeated on the slightly step-front lower tier which also has carved corbel embellishments with rosettes on the door frames. Glazing appears in the doors above and below, as well as on each side, allowing natural ambient light to illuminate your collection within, negating the necessity of artificial light. The glass shelves add to that effect, allowing the light to permeate the interior and illuminate your pieces. This specimen was crafted entirely from hand-select, exotic imported mahogany which is considered one of the finest furniture woods the world has ever known. What a splendid way to display your most cherished family heirlooms, prized possessions, or family library!
