19th Century French Henri II Bookcase was produced by artisans that were true masters of their craft! The refined, stylized Renaissance-influenced styling is glorified by the sculptor's hand from the bold crown above to the massive base below. An heraldic crest is centered on the intricately carved architrave which wraps around each side, but not before being accentuated with an amazingly rendered smiling lion's head on each corner forming corbels to frame the crown. Dentil trim and multiple tiers of molding capture the attention, and that's just the crown! Tapered and fluted columns come down from the corbels and transition into beautifully carved bases which rest above the lower tier and frame the two hand-blown glass cabinet doors of the upper tier, separated by a superbly rendered astragal of an incredibly detailed design. The upper doors open to reveal three shelves suspended with adjustable brackets to accommodate most any configuration you desire. The top tier appears to rest on a broad, boldly molded and finely carved pediment which in turn is supported by the astonishing lower tier. Double tapered and carved columns appear on each corner, above which are lions' heads amongst the fluted drawer tier. Another bold corbel in the classical style is centered between the two doors which consist of multiple tiers of moldings for an architectural accent. The entire affairs rests on a base with seven tiers of contour for a spectacular finishing touch!
