19th Century French Napoleon III Period Walnut Hall Bench is the ideal choice to greet your visitors and guests in style! Designed to provide a comfy waiting area for friends and callers to wait while the host or hostess is able to come to the foyer to greet them, such benches predate the telephone and internet, so no advance notice was possible other than expensive courier. This example, rendered in the neoclassical style with definite attributions to ancient Greek and Roman architecture, features a triple arched crown with bold scrollwork centered at the top with a stylized fleur de lys. A large full relief rosette appears under the crown, providing a stunning focal point. Below the scrollwork appears a separately molded tier embellished with foliates and rosettes, leading the eye to the upholstered and comfy full width seat, which is framed by demilune gadrooning all around. The tailored lines of the trunk below allude to the classical design, with fine molding and a bold base board. The padded & upholstered seat opens up to reveal the storage within, which comes in quite handy as there's no such thing as too much storage!
