19th Century French Gothic Petite Trunk ~ Blanket Chest was purpose-built for a cozy niche, and its size makes it very versatile to use in any capacity! Crafted entirely by hand, including the hand-chamfered solid panels in the back, it is a testament to the talents of artisans using techniques handed down for generations. The plank top opens to reveal nice storage, with the lid restrained by an internal chain to keep it from bumping the wall behind. Both sides and the entire front facade are lavished with intricate molding detail, combined with Gothic motifs such as linen fold and rosettes and fleurs de lys on an arched framework. Gothic style columns with elaborate spires also serve on all corners as well as three across the front to frame the twin panels. The sturdy base is defined by plinths supporting the columns and a heavy scroll-cut apron. Ideal as a companion or for any special place.
