19th Century Country French Stripped Hall Bench ~ Pew was designed to be attractive from all angles! Hand-crafted from thick planks and beams of solid old-growth white oak, it features a higher and deeper seat than most making it capable of actually being comfortable! The seat is firmly supported by a pair of brackets spaced across the width, and using pegged mortise & tenon joinery is attached to the wonderfully sculpted side supports, each fitted with small and larger wagon wheel motifs accented with rosettes and finely turned spindles. An acanthus flourish in bird's head form graces the end of the armrest. Across the back, a gallery of matching turned spindles gives a more light and airy look, also making this choice ideal for placement in front of a large window. Even the back side features chamfered panels with carved accents on the corners, and a bold base molding all around add character. The top is slanted so the congregation seated behind has a nice place to put hymnals and prayer books. What a delightful choice to add character and Old World charm to any room!
