Pair Antique French Louis XVI Bergeres ~ Armchairs represents a timeless design that beautifully blends comfort with style!  With what are today called "wingbacks" on the seats, the chairs protected delicate shoulders, and with fully upholstered sides, stopped cold drafts as well, all while enveloping one in padded upholstered luxury.  The upholstery on this pair is a striped mohair combining long-wearing attributes with a visual flair.  The framework demands the most attention, however, with arched seatback topped with the royal torchere, flowers and foliates carved right into the frame itself, with beaded trim also carved right into the molding appearing throughout the upright portion of the design.  On the face of the upright framework appears laurel motif, while spiral ribbon and acanthus plumes adorn the armrest face.  Below the armrests, the frame features rosettes, more laurels, and tapered and fluted legs for a classical look that truly transcends time itself, all carved from solid fruitwood to last and last!
