Pair 19th Century French Louis XVI Gilded Armchairs ~ Fauteuils are a truly timeless representation of the neoclassic form inspired by the ancient Greeks and Romans! Carved from hand-select hardwood, each features an oval, contoured seat back and generous seat upholstered recently in a high quality embroidered silk fabric. The frames are works of art, with a bow of ribbon at the top of the seat spiral ribbon trim, with acanthus leaf motif appearing on the molded detail of the surrounding frame. The seat back connects with the seat and the armrests with flowing lines carrying the molded detail and carved embellishment theme, extending out to the padded armrests supported by corbel-shaped uprights lavished with acanthus plumes. Spiral ribbon carvings continue around the seat framework to connect the four tapered, fluted and carved leg supports which are topped with rosettes. Upholstered even on the back side in the same fabric, they are a great choice for placement anywhere in the room!
