Pair 19th Century French Directoire Style Painted Armchairs are an excellent example of the neoclassical style, and feature carved accents enhanced by the patinaed painted finish.  Seatbacks are arched with scrolled uprights to provide great lower back support, especially combined with the generously sized seats.  The remainder of the framework remains tailored, with the exception being the urn form of the turned armrest supports, mirrored by the legs below, and separated by diamond shaped recesses filled with floral rosettes.  Mild distressing of the patinaed painted finish only adds to the allure!  Upholstery is serviceable yet easily replaced with your coordinating fabric.
